Michele Capurso is a researcher and lecturer in Educational psychology at the University of Perugia, Italy. He started his career in 1990 as a primary school teacher and then worked as a hospital teacher in the beautiful Umbria region, Italy. Later, he served as Head of the Practical Teacher Training programs at the University of Perugia, where in 2004 he became researcher. Capurso has published several books and articles on children’s fears and coping, understanding of illness, didactics and communication. On the same subjects he has been invited to share his experience and research in different meetings and conferences all over the world. He has been a member of the Board of HOPE (Hospital Organization of Pedagogues in Europe) for eight years, and President for two. He is currently serving as scientific board member on several associations in the field of children development and education.

Professor Eneida Simões da Fonseca is a lecturer at Rio de Janeiro State University. She teaches the subjects: Special Education, inclusion and education of sick children in pre-school and basic education levels. She also works with research metodology . She graduated as a Pedagogue (1983) with a specialization in Early Childhoo Intervention (1984). Her Master Degree in Special Education (1989) was carried out at The Norwegian Institute of Special Education (University of Oslo/Norway). She has a PhD in Development and Education of sick children (1998) obtained at The Institute of Education/University of London. She also carried out a post doctorate on children with special health care needs (2009) at the Rio de Janeiro Federal University with 4 weeks visits on Canadian institutions that attend children with special health care needs. Eneida worked as a primary teacher at the Jesus Children Hospital, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, during 25 years, reting from this job in 2008.

Dr. Gentle-Genitty is a tenured professor of social work at Indiana University in the School of Social Work. In her field she has a diverse interest. She studies absenteeism, truancy, school social bonding, and related topics while serving as an executive member of the International Network for School Attendance (INSA- https://www.insa.network/) and a founding member of the same. She is also the past president of the US based International Association for Truancy and Dropout Prevention (IATDP) and former journal editor. In social work she is well known for her work in models for teaching human behavior theory with her model for teaching and evaluating theory, SALT (Strengths, Area of focus, Limitation, and Theories to Redress). Her textbooks, journal articles on this, and group work are available online. She is also known for developing the first mobile app dictionary of theories through Apple. Other areas of interest and engagement of Dr. Gentle-Genitty has included youth violence, gender violence, diversity dialogues, online education, youth development, at-risk youth, Caribbean assessments, and social work education broadly. She serves as an administrator at Indiana University as Assistant Vice President for University Academic Policy and Director of University Transfer Office. In this role she leads transfer and academic policy initiatives, shepherds degree approvals, and conducts external affairs activities for 100,000+ study body institution in the US. She is a CARICOM consultant, member of the American Council on Education Task Force on Transfer Credit, a HERS Women Leadership Alum and member of its Advisory Board, and Indiana representative on the Western Regional Higher Education Advisory Council of Cambridge International.

Franco A. Carnevale is a nurse, psychologist and clinical ethicist. He completed his undergraduate nursing degree, and three master's degrees in nursing, education, and bioethics, as well as a doctorate in counseling psychology at McGill University. He also completed a master’s degree in philosophy at Université de Sherbrooke and a second doctorate in moral philosophy at Université Laval. In addition, he completed graduate studies in health law, anthropology, and cultural psychiatry. Dr. Carnevale's primary research interests include a wide range of concerns in pediatric ethics. Dr. Carnevale is the founder and principal investigator for VOICE (i.e., Views On Interdisciplinary Childhood Ethics); a McGill-based international initiative to advance knowledge and practices relating to ethical concerns in childhood. Dr. Carnevale’s current academic appointments include (all at McGill University): Full Professor, Ingram School of Nursing; Associate Member, Faculty of Medicine (Pediatrics); Adjunct Professor, Counselling Psychology; Affiliate Member, Biomedical Ethics Unit. His clinical appointments include: Clinical Ethicist for Child, Adolescent, and Family Services and Director of the Nursing Research Program (Research Centre) at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute; Chair of the Clinical Ethics Committee at the Shriner's Hospitals for Children (Canada); Clinical Ethics Consultant at Le Phare, Enfants et Familles (pediatric hospice and respite care); and Associate Member of Pediatric Critical Care, Nursing Advisor, and Past-Chair (1997-2016) of the Pediatric Ethics Committee, all at the Montreal Children's Hospital-McGill University Health Centre. Dr. Carnevale is a founding member of the Board of Directors of the World Federation of Pediatric Intensive and Critical Care Societies (WFPICCS) and founding member of the Editorial Board of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. He is also a founding member of the McGill Qualitative Health Research Group (MQHRG).

Megan Elam, EdD serves as Director of the Center for School Services and Educational Research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Adjunct Instructor at the University of Cincinnati and Purdue University. Dr. Elam has invested her career in improving educational outcomes for students with a chronic health condition. She has become a national expert in the field, making distinct and nationally recognized advances toward transforming the educational landscape for students with a chronic condition through national presentations, publications, the development of teacher training and professional development programming, and innovative research. Due to vacancies in legislation relative to addressing the educational needs of these students, much of Dr. Elam’s work has focused on the examination of policies and legislation and advocacy for revised mandates to improve education in this area.

Stefano Federici, PhD, psychologist, is currently Professor of General Psychology and Psychology of Human Functioning and Disability at the University of Perugia. His research interests are aimed at assistive technologies and disability, in which he has contributed by developing a model of assistive technology assessment process. In the field of disability, he contributed to the Italian and Persian validation of the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS 2.0) and to the research on the sexuality health care of person with disability. In the field of human-computer interaction, he contributed to the research on the psychometric characteristics of the Italian version of the System Usability Scale (SUS) and of the Usability Metric for User Experience (UMUX). Finally, he developed a verbal protocol technique for the observation of the interaction experience with web interfaces of blind users or those with intellectual disabilities called Partial Concurrent Thinking Aloud.

Dr. Meirav Hen is a practicing clinical psychologist, a senior lecturer and the head of the department of psychology in Tel-Hai academic College in Northern Israel. She and her students at Case Western Reserve University developed pretend play protocols that use pretend play to develop creativity and coping abilities in typical and pediatric populations. She also developed a measure (Affect in Play Scale) to assess imagination and emotional expression in children. From 1997 to 2004, he served as lead psychologist and associate professor of pediatrics at The Children's Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina and Medical University of South Carolina.
