  • 12th International HOPE Congress

    The Scientific Committee invites you to submit an abstract for the 12th International HOPE Congress. If you are a Practitioner, Teacher, Parent, or Young Person affected by serious illness, injury and/or mental health condition, then please submit an abstract now. The Conference theme is 'Shaping the Future With Education: Cultures, Relationships and Competencies'. The call closes on November 30, 2022.

    The congress is scheduled to take place on May 8 – 12, 2023 in Milano, Italy. The congress will provide information based on the latest concerns, research, challenges and strategies to improve educational programmes and interventions for children and young people with medical and mental health needs and their families at home, in hospital, and in schools.

    The 2022 Conference of the International Network for School Attendance will be taking place October 5-7, Egmond aan Zee, the Netherlands.

    Continuity in Education is now indexed by Scopus, the world's largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles. This means that our journal is recognised as a high quality academic resource, and is relevant to the work of researchers and educators. As a result, more and more teachers, educators, practitioners and mental health workers around the world are now able to find and use CiE's articles in their work.

  • Call for papers

    Continuity in Education is still welcoming submissions related to the coronavirus emergency

     

    The coronavirus emergency is challenging mainstream schools to create digital learning environments that are engaging for students who are used to working face-to-face in a socially rich context. But the true pedagogical challenge is to help students to make a sense of what is happening around them, to reconstruct their social and growth-related fabric, and to keep their process of development going despite the isolation and the greater physical distance under which they currently live.

    How are your schools coping with all this? What type of distance learning tools are your schools using? Can students be involved as active learners and not just passive recipients of curriculum-related content? Can the experience and sound practices of home and hospital education be extended to mainstream schools? What are the psychological effects of the isolation in children?

    If you have any effective practice or research to share, Continuity in Education is open to receiving papers on these subjects, and the papers will be published given the highest priority.

    The Editorial Team of Continuity In Education is also considering standard articles for publication in the 2022 issue of the journal. Please check out our author guidelines and see what types of articles we publish.

    Title of Special Section: Continuing School During and After Prolonged Absenteeism

    Background: The International Network for School Attendance (INSA) in collaboration with Continuity in Education is hosting a call for papers. INSA’s Mission is to promote school attendance and respond to school attendance problems. It aims to compile, generate, evaluate, and disseminate information, assessment, and intervention strategies. This Special section of Continuity in Education will focus on activities or studies which examine how and what can be done to support students continuing their schooling and development while or after facing varied difficulties or disruptions in their lives. This includes investigations on how school attendance can be classified and identified and which approaches can be applied for the prevention and management of school attendance problems. Disruptions may include but are not limited to medical (psychological or other), behavioural, legal, criminal, parental, environmental, and or school policy/ practice.

    Description: Manuscripts are invited on activities or studies supporting continuity in school and development of young people facing some kind of difficulties or disruptions in their life. See article types HERE. It is our intention to draw authors and researchers from many different disciplines on school attendance problems and related fields.

    Note to Authors: Only a limited number of submissions will be accepted. Manuscripts will be accepted on a rolling submission. Types of articles: Research articles: 8000 words, Practice and intervention: 8000 words, and Theoretical/methodological: 6000 words. Please submit early. Articles will be peer reviewed and notifications sent of submission acceptance. Upon final acceptance manuscripts will be published in CiE open access Journal. Articles will be published as open access under a CC BY 4.0 license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). There is no cost for publication. Accepted manuscripts will be published during 2022.

    To submit a manuscript, authors are required to create an account on the CiE website, review the author guidelines, and follow the steps for article submission (CiE also provides different writing templates). Remember to indicate, in the cover letter of your submission, that you are submitting for the Special section: of ‘INSA - Continuing School During and After Prolonged Absenteeism’.

  • First INSA International Conference on School absenteeism

    The International Network for School Attendance (INSA) invites you to the INSA 2019 international conference - ‘School absenteeism: A universal problem in need of local, national, and international solutions’. The program includes keynote speakers from Social Work, Psychology, and Education; 45 presentations by policy-makers, researchers, practitioners, and parent/youth representatives from 12 countries; and opportunities to engage informally with various international experts. The conference is relevant for everyone interested in school attendance, including education professionals, practitioners, policy-makers, researchers, and academics from all disciplines.
